The Challenge
They had been using a managed service solution along with the Workday HCM to manage their workforce which consisted of 2,200 employees & contractors spread across 11 countries.
They were seeking a technology-based payroll solution to help them manage their large number of contractors in a way that enabled them to produce and deliver Contractor Invoices to their Workday platform.
Their key requirement was for a technology solution for payroll management that was fully integrated with Workday and would enable both their Contractor and Employee payroll process to be delivered and managed in one platform. They required a strategic payroll partner to provide them with the high degree of visibility, control and compliance they wanted from their payroll process.
The Payslip Solution
Fast Implementation
A 3-month implementation involved multiple teams at Payslip (Client Implementations, Technology, Product Management and Customer Success) and senior global payroll professionals at the law firm working hard and fast to meet very tight deadlines.
The goal was for Payslip to take over full control of contractor payroll operations to meet payroll deadlines in 4 countries (UK, Germany, France & Belgium) just one month after their normal payroll with their contractor ICP had ceased.
Contractor Invoices
The law firm sent their contractor payroll data from Workday over to Payslip where our team went about establishing and standardising key payroll elements that would assist with the generation of contractor invoices which exactly matched the specific invoice requirements required by them.
We worked with their pre-defined contractor invoice templates and leveraged the Payslip Contractor Module to ensure the different specifics of the invoices across all 4 countries were met. Then we automated the process so that these invoices could be automatically generated each pay period and securely transferred back over to the client Workday HCM where their contractors could access them.
Bank Files
We also developed SEPA and BACS bank files for the 4 contractor countries to assist their Treasury team with the payment process.
The Result
Fully automated contractor invoice generation across four countries
Payslip’s global payroll control platform was the technology solution they were looking for. They have moved on from their contractor ICP and now use Payslip to create and deliver specific contractor invoices directly into the Workday platform.
The Workday HCM integration was completed across 4 entities and the invoice generation process is now automated, saving them a lot of time in their contractor management process.

Their contractors, dispersed over several countries can now access Workday’s employee self-service portal to access their contractor invoices and pay related information.
In addition, we created a workflow for an automated General Ledger production which is now delivered direct from Payslip into an internal finance application at the law firm. We also developed a process for the automated delivery of transactional reporting from Payslip to Workday Prism Analytics.
