The Payslip team were out in force recently in San Francisco for the huge Workday Rising annual event in the US. A massive venue jam packed with hugely enthusiastic HR professionals on the hunt for digital solutions that could help them deliver their services in a better way. Celebrity guest speakers and even rock stars all piled into the mix for what was an eventful and rewarding week.
In the past, Workday HR platform users might have struggled to get excited about payroll largely because delivering payroll via the Workday platform was problematic due to payroll data integration issues
But we were more than happy to let them know that there was one very strong reason to get excited about global payroll delivery again, namely the global payroll control platform from Payslip which solves all of their data challenges and actually lets them drive payroll from Workday. They have been searching everywhere for this!
A problematic data integration challenge gets solved
So many Workday users told us that their core problem is really an integration challenge-not all of the data they need to deliver global payroll is housed inside the Workday platform, so they are unable to drive global payroll from this one system that they love using so much. Global payroll is complicated and requires connections to multiple data sources for effective delivery. Workday's Custom Cloud Tenant Payroll Provider (CCTPP) connects them with third-party local payroll providers but only to the the data inside the Workday ecosystem. And Workday users know that other data sources are need for payroll.
These data sources include payroll calculation software, local country vendor software, human resource systems and finance applications as well as benefits providers. Stock, equity and time & attendance applications also come into the mix, so it is not hard to see the need for powerful, automated integrations that enable bi-directional data flows between these multiple sources and the Workday platform.
That’s why everybody was very interested to learn that Payslip’s integration as a service offering connects all of these key data sources with Workday and automates the flow of data into and out of Workday from these sources. Pre-built connectors means these integrations are ready to go and Workday platform users can easily plug into Payslip. These connectors integrate with Workday and take payroll data from both PECI files and Workday Reports (for those who do not use CCTPP) while also exporting payslips back to Workday. And this is really what solves the global payroll dilemma for Workday users at multinational companies around the world.
“Workday users were really enthusiastic to learn about our solution to their data integration challenge that could be implemented so fast and seamlessly while letting them drive global payroll the way they want to”

No more process gap between Workday and Global Payroll
You see, the integrations gap has been the core problem. Workday users want to be able to run global payroll from Workday, but data flow issues and lack of integrations have prevented them from doing so. Nobody else in the market was solving this problem for them, so everybody who came to the Payslip kiosk and observed one of our platform demos, left with a strong sense that this troublesome issue has finally been solved- what a relief!

No awkward integrations or time-consuming implementation projects. No more manual data entry or excel uploads. No more incomplete HR and payroll reporting and analytics. All of this is replaced with fully integrated payroll and Workday software, 100% automated pre- payroll inputs from all sources required for payroll and comprehensive multicountry reporting.
Without Payslip, Workday users are viewing their HR data in the cloud, but the picture is incomplete because it does not contain the global payroll data. The Payslip integration solves this problem and gives Workday users a 360 global view of everything they need : all payroll processes as well as HR processes across all countries. With this kind of visibility and control, they can run HR processes and global payroll processes in the most effective way possible.
A way to manage vendors and data
One thing that really jumped out to us over the course of the week was the number of Workday people who spoke about their desire to keep existing relationships with vendors who are performing very well for them. Payroll is local and will always remain local so there will always be a need for local country payroll providers to calculate and deliver payroll across countries. Workday users recognise this too and there is no appetite for a rip and replace project or to surrender control over these vendors. Nor did they have any appetite to reduce down or even consolidate their vendors-this has been tried in the past and tended to result in unnecessary complexity while failing to solve their challenges.
“We built our integration as a service offering to be able to integrate with any service provider or HCM provider. Workday is the world’s best known HCM and deserves a technology integration solution that prioritizes global payroll requirements and solves the problem Workday users are facing when it comes to global payroll.”

Instead, what they are looking for is a way to manage all of these local providers and specifically to manage all of the data associated with them. They want the data from these vendors to flow into Workday, ideally in an automated fashion where they can analyse it and produce valuable and insightful reporting from it. They want an end to getting this data via excel spreadsheet uploads and manual data entry ie the needless and hugely time-consuming duplication of data from different systems across into Workday.
So, it was fantastic to be able to show all of these people a live demonstration of the global payroll control platform and show them how our pre-built Workday integrations mean we take their vendor data and automate the flow of it directly into Workday, completely eliminating the need for excel spreadsheet work. Our seamless integrations with local payroll providers across 200+ countries remove all of this manual work while orchestrating the vendor dataflows and approvals needed to run global payroll from Workday.
