Preparing global clients for the platform experience
My role here at Payslip is to fully understand complex client requirements and then work with my team to develop solutions that make it easy for our global clients to rapidly onboard to our platform and begin delivering and managing their global payroll in a better way.
It is about covering all requirements with my team to ensure our global clients have everything they need to move their data and payroll processes with speed over to our global payroll control platform. Understanding their needs and key payroll related requirements is a big part of my job.
I lead a team which deals with customer projects, integration and automation activities and work with my team to ensure there is a smooth transition across from their previous processes and software packages, over to our platform, in preparation for the go live date. The protocols we have in place ensure that we can do this fast, which is something our clients like to hear.
Systems integrations and preparing the data is a big part of the role. The Customer Engineering Team meets with the clients to fully understand their requirements and then work on ways to connect them to our platform in a fast and efficient way. I engage with my wider team and software engineers, assess capacity and priorities, then plan the project delivery so that we can deliver what is needed in a fast and efficient way. The goal is always to meet the client requirements with outstanding quality, on time and on budget.
Creating solutions that work best for the client
HCM integrations are a very important part of payroll delivery and management. Data needs to flow in a seamless and secure way between the client HCM and our global payroll control platform.
Our team owns the customer delivery of the engineering scope and data flows, so Customer Engineering plays a central role in the end user platform experience that our clients have when processing their payroll using our innovative global payroll technology
Data security, information protection and encrypted data flows are crucial here-we maintain very high levels of data security on our platform so that we are always able to provide strong assurances to our clients that their sensitive global payroll data is in very safe hands.
This process is about analyzing the data, designing a solution quickly and working with this solution in a non-live environment before any deployment in a live environment to ensure it is fit for purpose and can deliver what the client has asked for. We show them how things work inside our platform, provide them with documentation and only go-live when the customer has tested and validated 100% of the business and technical testing scenarios.
Collaboration is key
In my role, I collaborate with a number of important stakeholders including the Client Success, Product and Implementations team here at Payslip as well as client-side individuals such as payroll professionals, IT leads, business analysts and project managers.
I also manage a wider team (highly skilled Solution Architects, Business Analysts and Data Engineers) and have regular meetings with them to track progress, monitor workloads, prioritize tickets and discuss client requirements. Collaborating with other engineers is an enjoyable part of my role as these conversations tend to result in ideas around how to improve the client experience inside our global payroll control platform. Working with customers and my Payslip colleagues is one of the most satisfying parts of my job.
The joy is in solving problems
You have to be a problem solver to enjoy working in engineering! Every client is unique and will have different requirements, and while our platform has wonderful, innovative technology to help them, there is always a challenge to be figured out.
This is something I really enjoy, seeing an obstacle or a potential pain point for a client, and working with others to solve and remove it in a way that helps them work in a smarter, faster and more efficient way than they did before.
We know that global payroll is complex and challenging, and new requirements have sprung up in a post-covid world. My role is all about translating varied client requirements into workable solutions that puts the client back in control of their data, process and international payroll management.
This is what they are looking for when they approach companies like Payslip, and it is very rewarding to be able to deliver this for them in ways they might not have known even existed!
When I can contribute in this way, I know that engineering plays a key role in the end user client experience-this is something that is good for me, good for Payslip and most of all, good for our global clients.
