Workday Rising 2024 took place in Las Vegas and saw Workday launch its latest innovation, Global Payroll Connect.
This new platform is the future of payroll management for Workday customers and Payslip is delighted to be the only certified Partner for Purpose that currently has full integration across each of the features.
Payslip Founder & CEO Fidelma McGuirk sat down with global payroll expert and consultant, Pete Tiliakos to discuss Global Payroll Connect and how Payslip is helping customers unlock its value.
Pete Tiliakos:
Fidelma, I’m excited to finally see Global Payroll Connect here at Workday Rising. It really clarifies Workday’s global payroll strategy, and it’s amazing that Payslip is one of the key co-innovators in the original cohort. You’ve done a lot of work with Workday. What are you seeing and hearing from your clients about this launch?
Fidelma McGuirk (Founder & CEO of Payslip):
Clients are really excited. The main objective for Workday was to streamline the onboarding of international providers once you’re onboarded to Workday. With data changes on demand, our technology can pull all the payroll data from Workday without needing to set up multiple integrations or maintain them. This offers an immediate benefit in terms of time to value and reduces the cost of implementation. Plus, we support the entire process and understand payroll, so it’s a huge uplift in value for customers.
Pete Tiliakos:
Workday is clearly focusing on controlling the employee data experience while leaving payroll orchestration to experts like you. Payslip and your peers have done a great job bringing payroll forward for Workday. How has it been collaborating and innovating with them?
Fidelma McGuirk:
We’re thrilled. We’ve already gone live with all the features of Workday Global Payroll Connect, and it’s available to our customers now. For Workday clients with a mixed vendor environment - whether they’re using a local payroll provider or a global one - we help automate global payroll operations in the same way they automate HR operations with Workday. We bring visibility and control to global payroll and send everything back to Workday for a unified employee experience.
Pete Tiliakos:
That unified experience is key. Payroll is always local, but you manage to consolidate it, right?
Fidelma McGuirk:
Exactly. Local providers use their own engines for payroll, but we bring all that data in from multiple countries in multiple different formats, and then push it back to Workday. So employers get everything in one place. Payslip also manages the pay slips for different countries and integrates them into Workday for a seamless user experience.
Pete Tiliakos:
I love that. So how’s your week been here at Workday Rising? What are you hearing from clients and prospects?
Fidelma McGuirk:
It’s been great! Workday Rising really showcases how Workday is pushing the envelope in improving employee experience and making global payroll more visible and controllable. We’ve had a lot of conversations with clients who are excited about bringing more countries onto Workday and automating their payroll operations. They’re also eager to explore all the new features in Workday.
Pete Tiliakos:
That’s fantastic. You mentioned speed earlier - how quickly can you get clients up and running with your system?
Fidelma McGuirk:
We’ve designed Payslip as a global payroll control platform. With the vast amount of data we have from companies all over the world, we’ve developed AI tools that automatically map pay elements to a global level of abstraction. This allows us to get new customers live in for example 27 countries in under 4 months. That includes bidirectional data flow with Workday using Global Payroll Connect.
Pete Tiliakos:
That’s impressive. Looking ahead to 2025, what can we expect from Payslip and Workday?
Fidelma McGuirk:
We will see a lot of the new apps being released on Built on Workday, which is really liberating for Workday practitioners, because they can go into Built on Workday, find the apps, and they can connect directly with those payroll providers using the apps. This is a new initiative by Workday released in October this year. In Payslip we are excited to be taking advantage of that and making all of our technology available to Workday practitioners and customers to access directly even if they are not on our platform already.
Pete Tiliakos:
The ecosystem value is incredible. Workday’s really hit its stride with partners like you, and I love how the microservices approach allows for customization and flexibility.
Fidelma McGuirk:
Absolutely. The theme of Workday Rising is "Forever Forward," and that really captures their ambition for technology and the partner ecosystem. As a strong Workday Global Payroll Connect partner, we’re excited about the opportunities ahead.
Pete Tiliakos:
Congratulations to you and the team at Payslip. It’s exciting to see you leading the way as one of the first co-innovators in this space. Thanks for sharing your insights!
Fidelma McGuirk:
Thank you, Pete! We're thrilled to be part of this journey with Workday.
