The winner of the Global Payroll Management Institute’s (GPMI) Global Vision Award winner for 2020 is Fidelma McGuirk, founder and CEO of Payslip.

The Global Vision Award recognizes global payroll industry leaders having a positive impact on global payroll development in their home country and beyond. It focuses on leaders and visionaries in the field of global payroll who introduce positive initiatives and are passionate advocates of the people in the industry.

McGuirk, a popular winner operating out of Ireland but with strong ties to the US market, has over 20 years of experience scaling international business and leading multi-national teams, Global HR& IT functions. McGuirk identified the need for an automation and integration technology solution to help multinational employers standardize and centrally manage their global payroll.  Founding Payslip in Westport, Ireland in 2016, it now has teams and clients across the US & EU markets. McGuirk is also president of the first ever GPMI chapter in Europe, which is located in Dublin and has grown to over 95 members since the first meeting took place in 2018.

McGuirk was generous in her praise of the GPMI in her acceptance speech, stating that it “recognized for the first time that global payroll is a separate profession with specific challenges that are met by additional skillsets by fantastic leaders across the world.”

This prestigious award is further recognition of McGuirk’s commitment to improving processes in global payroll operations and ensuring the industry benefits from technology developments like those in operation on the Payslip platform which help standardize global payroll.

She states “It is absolutely possible to have standardized global payroll in a way that has a positive user experience for global payroll people centrally or decentrally. “

Using Payslip, we can manage all our payrolls across nine in-country vendors on one platform. When the global Covid-19 pandemic arose, it was not an issue from a payroll perspective, and critically getting everyone paid. The Payslip platform enabled continuity for our international payroll service including the fast and seamless implementation of the Payslip Employment Self Service during this time.

Payslip as a technology platform has added a missing piece in our payroll set-up. As an international company with offices in 16 countries, it’s important to us that every employee at GetYourGuide has the same great experience when accessing their pay data.

At the same time, we work well with smaller local payroll providers, supporting us with direct local expertise in their countries. We were able to combine those two elements by placing the Payslip platform in the middle, to simplify reporting and communication with local providers, and to have one simple employee-facing solution across all locations.

Payslip positions your team for success, and allows you to onboard hundreds of people when you need them very quickly and efficiently, in the same way for each country. The uniformed approach empowered our payroll teams to keep pace with our business.

Payslip also made our payroll process entirely transparent, which is invaluable to our payroll teams as we continue to grow and scale at such a rapid pace.
