Growing with confidence
2021 has been a year of intensive growth for Payslip and we are now pleased to report that our human resources team has now evolved into a fully-fledged global people function covering all our teams and global offices.
This is an important milestone for the company during a major growth phase where we are looking to leverage and capitalize on the skills and experience of our excellent employees. Our recruitment program has been in full swing since the summer, and we have already enjoyed great success in securing some hugely impressive talent across a range of different roles and locations.
Ready for the future of work
Acknowledging the future of work is both remote and hybrid, we have adapted to this new working normal with our global teams mixing office work with remote delivery. While our hiring is currently heavily focused on Westport in the West of Ireland, we are also pleased to be in a position to offer remote roles to suitably qualified candidates as we look to build a team of outstanding professionals who can deliver exactly what our global client base need in a post pandemic world when it comes to their global payroll delivery and management.
Working culture is changing but so are the complex needs of our global employer client base, who now need a global payroll control platform to help them manage and deliver global payroll to what is becoming a much more internationally dispersed workforce. This new normal we are entering into has significant implications for global payroll delivery and a technology solution is needed more today than ever before. For global organizations who have ambitious growth plans, talent is the new scaleup currency and global payroll operations are now foundational to growth and scale up activity. Now is exactly the right time that organizations need to be getting their payroll process correct.
Ongoing recruitment
As a result of this, talent acquisition and management will remain a massive priority here at Payslip for the coming months and we will be boosting our capabilities across a range of roles including sales, engineering and development, product, finance and customer success. This process will be managed by our people function team who have been very busy searching the globe for candidates with the right mix of skills and experience, to join our growing company and help us build on the fantastic momentum we have generated since the start of the year.
Our VP of People Ann-Marie Smith is based in Dublin, and she has a fantastic support team of human resources professionals in Varna, Bulgaria with Viktoria Milcheva and Westport with Linda Kelly.
With the challenges of COVID-19 affecting recruitment just like every other business critical service, Ann-Marie and her team have encountered some inevitable obstacles but find that a positive team spirit together with a focus on the opportunities rather than the challenges, results in a very rewarding working environment, inside a rapidly growing technology company.
“These are both challenging and exciting times for Payslip. We are looking to secure the best global talent as the world emerges from a pandemic. The People Function are really focused on making sure that everyone in the Payslip team has everything they need to perform at the highest level and delight our clients”
Ann-Marie Smith, VP of People
Both Westport and Varna are excellent seaside locations - ideal for busy professionals who want to achieve a better work life balance and are interested in exploring options that help them move away from the city center commute towards a more rewarding lifestyle. We also have plans to open a hub in Santander in Spain in the future.
Westport is attracting significant interests from qualified candidates looking for a change of scene. The Irish government is also actively encouraging professionals in the country to consider relocating from the city center business hubs. There have been great strides in recent years when it comes to infrastructure and connectivity in more rural locations and Ireland is strongly positioned to thrive in the new working normal of a post COVID-19 world.
Getting the best out of people
Ann Marie is keen to emphasize that the core reason for the existence of any global people function is to help maximize the talent and abilities of the global workforce. This involves a move away from some of the more administrative features of the human resources function and a move towards having a people function that offers genuine support while fostering creativity and collaboration.
Payslip’s new global people function is a partner function with a major role to play in talent development. Their focus is to put in place structure and processes that result in a welcoming work environment, team focused goals and consistent client success. It's an exciting road ahead and they're just getting started!
